Six Ways To Overcome Writer’s Block

Writer’s block – two words that will send shivers down the spine of any experienced writer who knows just how frustrating and problematic this can be, particularly if you are writing to tight deadlines. 

This is also something that every writer will experience at one point or another, whether you are working on your first script or your 50th. Writer’s block can paralyze your abilities and cause you to re-think everything that you have put down already. 

The good news is that there are a few effective ways to overcome writer’s block which will hopefully help you to get back on track sooner rather than later.

1. Exercise

The healthiest option is to exercise, as this allows you to focus on something else, get your blood pumping and help you to get some fresh air and possibly socialize. Even a simple walk around can do wonders for freeing up your mind so that when you sit back down again you will feel refreshed and ready to get started.

2. Change Your Environment

If you are struggling for inspiration and words, then sometimes a simple change of environment will do the job. It is hard to be creative if you are cooped up in the same work environment so switching to somewhere new can be helpful. Think about working from a local coffee shop or even in the library, where there will be other people around you but not too many distractions.

3. Free Writing

Free writing is something of a secret weapon when it comes to overcoming writer’s block and helping you to be creative – it can also be good fun too. This involves choosing a prompt and then writing without any restrictions or concerns about conventions for a set period of time. This helps you to pour ideas onto the page and is highly effective at breaking through any barriers which are stopping you from putting words on paper.

4. Online Betting

People often suffer from writer’s block when they are hungry and/or thirsty. It is hard to concentrate and be creative when your body is telling you that it needs food or drink, which is why taking a break and enjoying a good meal and drink can be highly effective and help you to come back feeling ready to crack on.

Writer’s block is very real and something that all writers will experience at one point or another. Hopefully, these methods will help you to quickly overcome writer’s block and help you to become a more efficient writer.
