A little too kinky: See the celebrities who actually enjoy filming sex scenes
While watching a thirsty sex scene, we would hope the actors are enjoying it just as much as we are. Although some actors don’t really like getting down & dirty (even if it’s just an act) on camera, other actors say filming sex scenes is extremely pleasurable.
Some actors even believe sex scenes are their time to shine. They’re more than happy to give their fans fun stories & anecdotes about their experiences. Here are some of our favorite celebrities revealing why they enjoy filming sex scenes.
While playing Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke may have been in more than a few sex scenes. Her favorite was in season 4, when Daenerys commands sellsword Daario to take off his clothes in front of her. In an interview with Elle, Clarke actually thanked creators, David Benioff & D.B Weiss for how amazing the scene looked, telling the creators it was “brilliant, that’s a scene I’ve been waiting for”.
Emilia Clark expressed her pride in her Game of Thrones’s sex scenes. She also told Elle she “got a lot of crap” for doing sex scenes, addressing her critics: “That (the backlash), in itself, is so antifeminist. Women hating on other women is just the problem. That’s upsetting, so it’s kind of wonderful to have a scene where I was like, ‘There you go!’”
Lady Bird & Little Women star Saoirse Ronan has been fairly happy with how her sex scenes have turned out. Ronan told ET, “I’ve been very lucky that I’ve never felt overly nervous doing sex scenes. To me, they’re so completely technical.”
According to Cinemablend, Saoirse Ronan also told ET: “It’s purely technical and choreographed. I’ve just always sort of seen it as that, which I think is probably a good way to go about it.” Ronan even choreographed a sex scene herself with actress Kate Winslet for their lesbian drama, Ammonite, an upcoming biopic about nineteenth-century paleontologist Mary Anning.
Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale explained how her attitude towards sex scenes evolved to People. “I think when we (she & costar Ian Harding) started working with each other we were both super nervous and making sure we were in tip-top shape, and then towards the end, we didn’t care.”
The actress told People that she felt at ease after filming the first few scenes, especially since her hygienic costar Ian Harding “flossed at least three times” before each sex scene.
Bigger than Davis
How To Get Away with Murder star Viola Davis spoke about her experiences filming sex scenes on Variety’s Actors on Actors. “If I’m in a sex scene, I want to play the sex scene. I want to say, ‘This is why I’m attracted to you, it’s gotten to this point, this is what my body looks like.’”
Viola Davis told Tom Cruise on Actors on Actors that sex scenes for an African-American is bigger than whatever insecurities she may have. Davis elaborated: “I saw it as an opportunity way bigger than doing good work. I saw it as an opportunity for a dark-skinned actress of fifty to be in a role that’s sexualized, not sexy”.
Fun in the rain
Bridesmaids may have some awkward moments, but for Jon Hamm, he claims his sex scene with costar Kristen Wiig was actually fun. Hamm said he didn’t sweat the small stuff, explaining to Playboy, “It’s like running in the rain. There’s a certain point where you go, ‘Fuck it, I’m already wet. I’m not going get any less wet so I might as well enjoy how this feels.’”
The Spectacular Now gave us a beautiful sex scene between Shailene Woodley & Miles Teller. According to People, Shailene Woodley confirmed their sex scene was as warm as it was off screen, stating: “We felt very cared for.”
In his 2010 film Charlie St. Cloud, High School Musical actor Zac Efron had a couple love scenes with costar Amanda Crew. Efron stated on the Kyle and Jackie O Show, “To be honest with you I really enjoyed the love scenes. We really just saw where it took us and it was pleasurable!”
Zac Efron also enjoyed his sex scenes in the film, At Any Price. According to People, Efron felt these moments with his costar Heather Graham were “very surreal”.
Mindy tells all
The Mindy Project actress & director Mindy Kaling believes all actors should love sex scenes just as much as she does. According to Eonline, Kaling writes in her book Why Not Me? “Obviously on-screen sex is not actual penetrative sex, but as any religous high-schooler will tell you, simulating sex can be pretty damn enjoyable as well.”
