The hottest lewks from last night’s 2020 CMA Awards

In the midst of a global pandemic, country music’s biggest night provided a glimmer of pre-coronavirus normalcy. The Country Music Association Awards made us feel like it was 2019 again, including live, in-person formatting and of course, the most glamorous star-studded looks.

Broadcast live from the Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee, the 54th annual CMA Awards were hosted by country star elites Reba McEntire & Darius Rucker this year, The awards show featured Charlie Puth, Justin Bieber and Dan + Shay, to name a few of the performers. Show-stopping acts were expected, but the jaw-dropping looks that hit the red (or technically gray) carpet were anything but typical.

With every CMA Awards, there seems to be an unspoken memo calling for a figure-hugging gown dripping in sparkle & glitter – and last night was no different. From Carrie Underwood’s edgy asymmetrical gown to Lauren Alaina’s celestial dress, country’s biggest stars honored the captivating night by dressing to the nines.

Carrie Underwood

Former American Idol winner & country music royalty, Carrie Underwood never disappoints when it comes to a sartorial moment on the red carpet. Resplendent in an asymmetrical sparkling silver dress with a long, flowing sleeve & high-neckline, Underwood balanced the Yousef Aljasmi piece by opting for minimalist, silver jewelry and clear patent heels.

Kelsea Ballerini

Easily the most eye-catching look of the night, Kelsea Ballerini donned a strapless signature Dolce & Gabbana gown adorned with cascading scarlet flowers, voluminous tulle and delicate lace leaf motifs. Ballerini topped off the look with a complimentary red lip and dainty diamond ear cuffs.

Lauren Alaina

Lauren Alaina opted for a figure-flattering nude gown covered with crystal embellishments that could easily be seen on Jennifer Lopez or Britney Spears. Aliana expertly paired the shimmering long-sleeved gown with a pulled-back yet tousled ponytail and a nude lip.

Taylor Hill

Technically, bombshell beauty & Ralph Lauren ambassador Taylor Hill isn’t a musician but her insanely sharp, yet minimalist Versace suit was enough to make her stand out. The jet-black power suit provided a much-needed breath of understated relief to the glitz & glam of the night. To inject some style & drama, Hill wore an oversized chunky gold charm necklace and a daring cat-eye.

Tenille Townes

Canadian country music singer Tenille Townes dared to don a nontraditional silhouette on the red carpet – frankly, she pulled it off spectacularly. Townes’s subtle yet sexy jumpsuit featured a plunging neckline and a thigh-high slit cut-out to showcase her strappy black heels

Lauren Akins

Wife of country music star Thomas Rhett, Lauren Akins glowed in a blush-toned Dolce & Gabbana silk dress featuring elegant straps & a slightly ruched top. While gold was definitely the way to go to compliment the color palette, the oversized hoops added a more casual, laid-back feel.

Miranda Lambert

No CMA best-dressed list is complete without Miranda Lambert.  The “Bluebird” singer glowed in a neon pink number that flattered her figure, matched her outgoing persona, and added drama in all the right places. The knee-length dress featured shoulder pads reminiscent of the 80s and ruching along the hips. Electrifying pink pumps & a hot pink clutch completed the Barbie-approved ensemble

Ingrid Andress

Up-and-coming artist Ingrid Andress not only charmed the CMA Awards audience with her breakout performance of “More Hearts Than Mine”, but also turned heads with her striking pantsuit. The fresh-faced newcomer wore an all-black pantsuit showcasing yet another asymmetrical look on the CMA carpet.

A plunging, geometric neckline added a modern spin to an otherwise classic silhouette. Regal, diamond jewelry elevated the look while her strappy, minimalist heels took a backseat.
