‘Stranger Things’ is back for season 4: A new release date was just teased
This year just started with potentially good news for Stranger Things fans. We’ve been waiting for the fourth season of this retro sci-fi series ever since it was announced during the second half of 2019. Unfortunately, COVID-19 hindered the filming of this (and many other) highly anticipated productions.
If you’re a fan of Hopper, and you’re dying to get some backstory on Eleven’s adoptive dad, this season is meant for you. A teaser featuring Hopper has people wondering if this new season will focus more on him. Also, a recent interview with David Harbor with People confirmed that we’re gonna learn more about our characters – particularly their darker side.
There’s so much buzz going around about what Stranger Things might bring us now. Check out everything we know so far about the upcoming season.
Where we left off
Stranger Things season 3 centered around the Russian government’s interest in the Upside Down. We see Soviet scientists trying to open the portal again, and a full undercover mission going on right under a new mall where our gang hangs out.
During the third season, we also see more of the gang’s relationships with one another like Mike & Eleven’s, Joyce & Hopper, and even Dustin & Suzie. Season 3 also digs deeper into the political aspect of the story when we see how American & Russian scientists are both interested in the Upside Down.
In this season, we also see how the Mind Flayer “possesses” Billy (Max’s brother) and uses him to get control over the town. Stranger Things season 3 gives us two antagonists: the Mind Flayer (through Billy) & the Russian government. Sadly, it also ends by taking away two of our main characters: Hopper & Billy. . . or at least that’s how it seems.
The last scene of season 3 shows two guards in a prison in Kamchatka, Russia, apparently deciding which prisoner to use as the Demogorgon’s lunch. We hear them say: “no, not the American” which is presumed to be Hopper.
Almost a year ago, we got confirmation that Hopper will be back for season 4 of Stranger Things thanks to a trailer released by Netflix. The trailer is titled “From Russia with love. . .” further confirming in the last scene of season 3, the guards were actually referring to Hopper.
In an interview with People, David Harbor (a.k.a. Hopper) revealed how season 4 is going to give us more details about his character. He commented: “You really do get to see a lot of his backstory of who he was as a warrior in a sense and sort of the mistakes he made in the past come back to visit him.”
It looks like season 4 is going to give us even more reasons to love Hopper. According to Harbor, “you really do get to see a lot of his backstory of who he was as a warrior in a sense and sort of the mistakes he made in the past come back to visit him.”
Everything we know about season 4
Unfortunately, we still don’t have a release date for Stranger Things season 4. However, we do have some details about what to expect next. In season 3, we see Joyce, Will, and Jonathan moving to a different city which means we probably won’t see the full gang as much.
Now that we have the teaser for season 4 & David Harbor’s interview, it also seems like some of the action is happening in a completely different country. By the looks of it, there are going to be major changes in the way the team works together. One thing’s for sure: season 4 of Stranger Things will probably give fans the backstories they deserve.
