Tom Brady has just purchased a palatial plot in the heart of Billionaire's Bunker on Florida's Indian Creek Island. Will his wife and kids be happy?

What’s billionaire’s bunker and why is Tom Brady taking his wife and kids?

One of the world’s most talked-about power couples, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen are set to enter the uber-swanky island of the super rich. Let’s break down all the deets here.

Relocation to Tampa

The six-time Super Bowl winner miffed thousands of New England Patriots’ fans when he announced his decision to part ways with the franchise earlier this year. After ending his twenty-year association with the Patriots, Brady joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Following his new agreement, Tom Brady and his wife Giselle along with their kids moved into the sprawling, 30 thousand square foot mansion on Davis Islands in Tampa. The house the Brady-Bündchen family are currently renting was built by Yankees Hall of Fame shortstop Derek Jeter, according to Tampa Bay Times.

Now the couple seems ready to settle down in South Florida as they recently snagged a plot in the ultra-exclusive island of Indian Creek near Miami Beach which is famously known as the “Billionaire’s Bunker”.

Brady’s new property

Tom Brady and Giselle Bündchen have bought 26 Indian Creek for more than $17 million, as reported by Page Six. This new home makes them brand-new neighbors to Ivanka and Jared Kushner, who also bought a 1.84-acre plot property right next door recently.

The couple is reportedly planning to bulldoze the current house on their newly bought land and build their ideal residence that will likely echo the eco-conscious design of their other mansions.

Apparently, both Brady and Bündchen are suckers for interior design and are meticulous in their specifications, even if it’s “about their doorknobs”. “They like to build from the ground up,” a source told Page Six “look at their Brookline home, this will be like that”.

Billionaire’s bunker

Indian Creek Island isn’t labeled Billionaire’s bunker for no reason. The private island is home to some of the most high-profile people in the world including, Spanish singer Julio Iglesias, Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima, billionaire philanthropist Carl Icahn, and Dutch businessman Geert-Jan Bakker, who purchased property here from Beyoncé and Jay-Z in 2010.

The uber-exclusive island is a gated community of thirty-four homes situated around the perimeter of the island, giving them all waterfront views. A pristine eighteen-hole golf course spans the center of the island, as reported by Business Insider. The high-security hideaway for high-powered celebs has only one road in and out, and it takes only twenty minutes to travel from end to end. The private stretch of land also boasts a twenty-four-seven boat patrol.

“It’s almost its own small country”, interior designer Nicola Fontanella of Argent Design, who has worked on several palatial residences on Miami Beach’s barrier islands, told the Telegraph. “There are very few homes on Indian Creek and they carry an exceptional premium because they so rarely become available”.

Downsizing real-estate portfolio

Besides the addition of their new property, the couple has made several major changes in their real estate portfolio. Brady and Bündchen are reportedly finalizing a deal to sell one of their units in a Manhattan luxury building located in a Robert A.M. Stern building and designed to overlook the Hudson River in Tribeca, for just under $40 million, according to Architectural Digest.

Brady and Bündchen purchased the property for $25.5 million in 2018, nearly two years after they bought another, smaller unit in the same building. The couple will still maintain the ownership of that smaller unit, though. “Tom and Gisele still love New York, but they are downsizing because they are spending so much time in Tampa”, a source told the New York Post.
